DESCRIPTION:<p>Call for Abstracts</p>\n\n<p>Concerned Philosophers for Peace</p>\n<p>31st Annual Conference</p>\n\n<p>University of Colorado\, Boulder</p>\n<p>October 18-20\, 2018</p>\n\n<p>Co-sponsored by the University of Colorado&rsquo\;s</p>\n<p>Center for Values and Social Policy</p>\n\n<p>Keynote speaker: Alison Jaggar</p>\n\n<p>Conference Theme:</p>\n<p>Economic Justice and Positive Peace</p>\n\n<p>Genuine peace involves more than negative peace\, i.e.\, merely the absence of violence. It also</p>\n<p>involves positive peace\, i.e.\, the presence of conditions that promote and sustain meaningful and fulfilled lives. Fundamental to the achievement of positive peace is justice\, not only in the legal sense\, but also in the economic sense\, as lack of adequate health\, housing\, and nutrition obstruct the attainment of fulfilled lives\, and hence of both personal and interpersonal peace.</p>\n\n<p>This year&rsquo\;s CPP conference invites abstract submissions on the following topics:</p>\n<p>&bull\; Principles/conditions of just distribution</p>\n<p>&bull\; Employee rights/employer rights</p>\n<p>&bull\; Equality of opportunity/equality of access</p>\n<p>&bull\; Nonviolence and positive peace</p>\n<p>&bull\; Individual/institutional responsibility</p>\n<p>&bull\; Gender/race and economic justice</p>\n<p>&bull\; Health care/housing/nutrition/education</p>\n<p>&bull\; Nonviolent efforts to achieve economic justice</p>\n<p>&bull\; Local/national/global standards</p>\n<p>&bull\; Means toward achieving economic justice</p>\n\n<p>In addition\, papers addressing all relevant topics to the mission of the CPP are welcome.</p>\n<p>Submission Guidelines: Please submit an abstract (no more than 500 words) to David Boersema at boersema@pacificu.edu by June 15\, 2018. Please include your name\, institutional affiliation\, e-mail address and paper title in the body of your e-mail. Please use &ldquo\;CPP 2018 submission&rdquo\; in the subject line of your email.
