DESCRIPTION:<p>We are pleased to announce our 2018 study week comprising a workshop and conference on the topic 'The Human Person and the Human Brain'.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The workshop will take place from the 29th of August to the 1st of September 2018 and will provide advanced undergraduate/MA level classes by lecturers from the University of Oxford\, the University of Cambridge\, the University of Bochum\, the University of Warsaw\, and the University of Zagreb.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This will be followed by a conference on the 3rd and 4th of September 2018 which will explore in detail contemporary perspectives on consciousness\, neuroscience\, personhood\, bioethics\, transhumanism and other related topics.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Both portions of the study week will take place at Hotel Sveti Križ on Island of Čiovo\, Croatia\, a short boat ride from the UNESCO world heritage sites of Split to the east and Trogir to the west.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Workshop Lecturers:&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Dr Dr Benedict Gocke (University of Oxford\, Ruhr University\, Bochum)</p>\n<p>Dr Marija Selak (University of Oxford\, University of Zagreb)</p>\n<p>Dr Mikolaj Slawkowski-Rode (University of Warsaw\, University of Oxford)</p>\n<p>Ralph Weir (University of Cambridge\, University of Buckingham)</p>\n<p>Samuel Hughes (University of Cambridge\, University of Buckingham)</p>\n<p>Conference Keynote Speakers:</p>\n<p>Professor Howard Robinson (Central European University)</p>\n<p>Dr Andrew Pinsent (University of Oxford)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Srećko Koralija (University of Cambridge)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Applications &amp\; Paper Submissions&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Undergraduate and MA students are invited to attend both the workshop and conference\; or the workshop only. Researchers and graduate students (including MA) are invited to deliver papers at the conference. This will cover organisational costs\, plus accommodation and meals at Hotel Sveti Križ.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>All applicants should provide as a separate document: name\, status/title\, institution\, contact address\, e-mail and phone number\, and a CV. Those who wish to deliver papers at the conference should also provide a title and 250-300 abstract.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This event is part of the John Templeton Foundation Project\, Science\, Theology\, and Humane Philosophy: Central and Eastern European Perspectives\, and is supported by the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion\, University of Oxford\; the Institute of Philosophy\, University of Warsaw\; the Centre of Excellence for Integrative Bioethics\, University of Zagreb\; the Emmy Noether Group For Scientific Theology\, Ruhr University Bochum\; and the Croatian Dominican Province.&nbsp\;</p>
