Kant&rsquo\;s Doctrines of Right\, Law\, and Freedom

Target audience: advanced bachelor students\, master students\, PhD students\, recent postdocs (with PhD received not before 2016).

Call for applications:
The Academia Kantiana of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University invites applications for participation in the Second Immanuel Kant International Summer School.
Kant&rsquo\;s Doctrine of Right retains contemporary relevance\, taking an important place in recent philosophical discussions. The main exegetical problems with Kant&rsquo\;s Doctrine of Right concern the relations between theoretical and practical philosophy\, moral and &lsquo\;legal&rsquo\; obligation\, and the concepts of private and public law. In public law\, Kant is unique in that he combines concepts and themes from Hobbes\, Locke\, and Rousseau. \;
Scientific Supervisor &ndash\; Prof. Dr. Heiner F. Klemme (Martin-Luther-Universitä\;tHalle-Wittenberg)\, co-editor of Kant-Studien\, member of the Academia Kantiana International Research Council (IKBFU\, Kaliningrad). \;
Scientific Assistant &ndash\; \;Liudmila Kryshtop\, PhD\, associate professor at Peoples&rsquo\; Friendship University of Russia\, Moscow.
The summer school consists of lectures\, seminars\, and readings. Within the framework of the summer school there will also be a scientific conference\, in which participants will present their own research project on a topic related to Kant&rsquo\;s philosophy\, and discuss the project with colleagues from different universities of Russia and the world.
School participants are selected on a competitive basis\, no more than 20 people. Participation in the summer school is free of charge. Travel to the venue of the school and accommodation in Svetlogorsk is paid individually by the participants. We may be able to reimburse some or all travel and accommodation costs (to be confirmed). The organizers kindly ask all students and young scholars interested in the costs reimbursement to apply for travel-grants at their home universities.

At the end of the summer school the participants will be given a certificate of their participation.

Working languages of the school: English\, Russian.

The goals and objectives of the Summer school:
&bull\; detailed analysis of key ideas and the most difficult concepts of Kant&rsquo\;s philosophy of law\;
&bull\; improvement of the participants&rsquo\; ability to work with primary sources\;
&bull\; expanding the scientific horizon of young scientists by immersion in the European tradition of research and teaching\;
&bull\; establishing professional relationships between young scientists. \;

Motivation Letter (in English\, 350-400 words)
Abstract on the topic of your own research project related to the philosophy of Kant (in English\, 1200-1400 words including references). \;
