DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call\nfor Papers</strong></p>\n<p>Michigan\nState University Department of Philosophy Graduate Student Conference</p>\n<p>Occupy\nPhilosophy:</p>\n<p>Dialogue\nand Reflection on Economic Inequality\, Capitalism\, and Democracy in\nAmerica</p>\n<p>February\n10-11\, 2012</p>\n<p>In\nlight of recent events illuminating ongoing critiques of how wealth\nand resources are distributed in America\, it is timely to interrogate\nthe ethical\, conceptual and methodological issues arising when\ncapitalism and other political economic systems are evaluated. This\nconference is primarily concerned with the ways that philosophy can\nmediate discussions of economic power\, human welfare\, institutional\njustice\, and the cost-benefit analyses that inform economic choices.</p>\n<p><strong>Submission\nGuidelines:</strong></p>\n<p>We\ninvite submissions of papers by\ngraduate students. We welcome papers that broadly address issues in\nsocial and political philosophy\; preference will be given to original\ncontributions that incorporate discussions of the recent &ldquo\;Occupation\nmovement&rdquo\; and related events. Presentations should not exceed 30\nminutes in length\, and will be followed by a short commentary and\nmoderated question and answer sessions.
