DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Invited speakers</strong></p>\n<p>Manuel Garc&iacute\;a-Carpintero (Universidad de Barcelona)</p>\n<p>Fran&ccedil\;ois Recanati (Institut Jean-Nicod)</p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Description</strong></p>\n<p>We are pleased to announce the Seminar on Speech Acts and Fiction\, that will be held at the University of Genoa\, on November 8th-10th\, 2018. The seminar will be divided in two parts\, corresponding to the two topics:&nbsp\;<u>speech acts</u>&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;<u>fiction</u>. For each topic\, there will be a lecture by Manuel Garc&iacute\;a-Carpintero followed by a commentary by Fran&ccedil\;ois Recanati\, and a lecture by Fran&ccedil\;ois Recanati followed by a commentary by Manuel Garc&iacute\;a-Carpintero. There will&nbsp\;be also space for 8-10 for short&nbsp\;presentations by Ph.D. students.&nbsp\;<u>Possible topics</u>&nbsp\;include (but are not limited to):</p>\n<p><a name="_gjdgxs"></a>- speech acts and assertion\;</p>\n<p>- content and assertion\;</p>\n<p>- locutionary and illocutionary aspects of what is said\;</p>\n<p>- what is said\, what is meant\, and what is implicated\;</p>\n<p>- theories of truth in fiction\;</p>\n<p>- assertions in fiction\;</p>\n<p>- fictional entities\;</p>\n<p>- names of fictional entities.</p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Instructions for abstract&rsquo\;s submission</strong></p>\n<p>Abstracts (<u>500-800 words</u>\, in&nbsp\;<u>.doc format</u>\, references not included) should be sent to&nbsp\;<u><a href="mailto:philocontext@gmail.com">philocontexts@gmail.com</a></u>&nbsp\;by&nbsp\;<u>August 20th\, 2018</u>.
