DESCRIPTION:
Abstract:&nbsp\;In this talk\, I present an ecological way of understanding current models of perception\, such as the predictive processing model. I argue that the ecological gloss I propose is superior both empirically and conceptually to inferential and representation-heavy approaches. But I also suggest that this does not imply the elimination of the notion of representation from perceptual psychology. Reflection on the notion of representation reveals that we can do without it in certain cases\, but may need to keep it in others.
