DESCRIPTION:<p>The 24th&nbsp\;Philosophy Born of Struggle conference will be hosted at Hamilton College in Clinton\, New York.</p>\n<p>Philosophy Born of Struggle&nbsp\;asks for papers or panel proposals that addresses what it means for a philosophy to be a &ldquo\;philosophy born of struggle&rdquo\; in the twenty-first century.</p>\n<p>We welcome submissions inspired by the conference theme. We especially welcome submissions on one or more of the following topics:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The way or ways that philosophy can be in service of social movements.</li>\n<li>The meaning of&nbsp\;<em>struggle&nbsp\;</em>in our present social\, political\, cultural\, and economic context.</li>\n<li>The role that philosophy can play in the development of effective transnational communication methods for people engaging in struggles in different parts of the world.</li>\n<li>The role that&nbsp\;<em>struggles</em>&nbsp\;play in the formation and maintenance of communities.</li>\n<li>The resources that theories constructed by Africana thinkers can provide to scholars and activists as they confront present-day ethno-nationalism throughout the globe\, particularly in the Americas and in Africa.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>In the spirit of answering the call\, we welcome anyone who would like to participate in a planning session on November 3rd&nbsp\;to help us chart the future of Philosophy Born of Struggle.</p>\n<p>-------</p>\n<p><u>Submission Guidelines</u></p>\n<p>Please submit either 1) a paper abstract of approximately 500 words\, 2) a panel abstract of approximately 500 words\, or 3) a complete paper no longer than 3000 words as a&nbsp\;Microsoft Word&nbsp\;document to&nbsp\;PBSconference@gmail.com&nbsp\;by&nbsp\;<strong>August 18\, 2018</strong>.</p>\n<p>Each submission should be accompanied by the following information either in a separate document or in the email&rsquo\;s body: (1) title\, (2) kind of submission (paper or panel proposal)\, (3) institutional affiliation\, (4) rank or occupation\, and (5) email addresses of presenters or panelists. Please use &ldquo\;PBOS 2018 Submission&rdquo\; as the subject of the email.</p>
