DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>THEMES FROM THE PHILOSOPHY OF</strong></p>\n<p><strong>ROBERT BRANDOM:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>NORMATIVITY\, RECOGNITION\, EXPRESSIVISM\, PRAGMATISM</strong></p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n\n<p>Conference at Marquette University (Milwaukee\, WI)</p>\n<p>In Conjunction with the 2019 Aquinas Lectureship</p>\n<p>February 22-23\, 2019</p>\n<p>Organized by Corinne Bloch-Mullins\, Yoon Choi\, and Sebastian Luft</p>\n\n\n<p><strong><em>CALL FOR PAPERS</em></strong></p>\n\n\n<p><u>&nbsp\;</u></p>\n<p>The 2019 speaker for the annual Aquinas Lectureship at Marquette University (to take place February 24\, 2019) is&nbsp\;<strong>Dr. Robert Brandom</strong>\, distinguished professor of philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;His Aquinas Lecture will center on some themes from his much-anticipated work on Hegel&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;<em>Phenomenology of Spirit</em>.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Prof. Brandom has been working on this<em>opus magnum</em>for more than a decade.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;It is set to be released in 2019 and will be entitled&nbsp\;<em>A Spirit of Trust</em>.</p>\n\n<p>To accompany Prof. Brandom&rsquo\;s visit and to take advantage of his presence\, we are organizing a two-day conference centered on his work (February 22-23).&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Prof. Brandom will personally attend the two-day conference and comment on the papers given.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>We invite paper submissions on the work of Robert Brandom\, focusing on (though not restricted to) the topics mentioned in the title above.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Please send us title\, detailed abstract (max. 1000 words)\, name &amp\; institutional affiliation no later than&nbsp\;<u>October 1\, 2018</u>.&nbsp\;Speakers will be notified of acceptances by&nbsp\;<u>November 1\, 2018</u>.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>More information on the conference (including travel and accommodation) will be forthcoming later in the fall.</p>\n\n<p>Please send your material to one of the following or contact us with any questions:</p>\n\n<p>Corinne Bloch-Mullins (<a>Corinne.Bloch-Mullins@marquette.edu</a>)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Yoon Choi (<a>Yoon.Choi@marquette.edu</a>)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Sebastian Luft (<a>Sebastian.Luft@marquette.edu</a>)&nbsp\;</p>
