DESCRIPTION:<p>Proposals in all areas of social philosophy are welcome\, but special attention will be devoted to the theme:</p>\n<p><strong>Home: Sanctuary\, Shelter\, and Justice</strong></p>\n<p>Some possible paper topics include:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Membership in families</li>\n<li>Membership in communities</li>\n<li>Group identity</li>\n<li>Transnational identities</li>\n<li>Identity\, immigration\, and assimilation</li>\n<li>Caregiving and care receiving</li>\n<li>Care and Justice: Compatibilities and Incompatibilities</li>\n<li>Collective activity and/or collective care</li>\n<li>The ethics of social practices</li>\n<li>The status of community and home in an age of political division</li>\n<li>Citizenship and civic obligation</li>\n<li>Proper citizenship</li>\n<li>Neoliberalism and social responsibility</li>\n<li>The effects of health and well-being on security</li>\n<li>Public institutions security</li>\n<li>Philosophical perspectives on sanctuary\, shelter\, and/or justice</li>\n<li>Philosophical perspectives on discrimination</li>\n<li>Sanctuary and &ldquo\;homeplacing&rdquo\;</li>\n<li>Sanctuary\, shelter\, and living &ldquo\;in-between&rdquo\; worlds</li>\n<li>Sanctuary\, shelter\, and justice as related to gender</li>\n<li>Philosophical perspectives on welcoming and openness</li>\n<li>Philosophical perspectives: What it means to be at home and/or homeless</li>\n<li>Homeless in the academy: Conservative political philosophy</li>\n<li>Future society and/or technology in reference to the meaning of home</li>\n<li>Feeling&nbsp\;at home/homeless in reference to gender</li>\n<li>Religious belief and the feeling of home/homeless</li>\n<li>Religious belief and security\, justice\, and/or shelter</li>\n<li>The connection between food\, water\, and security</li>\n<li>Recreation\, play\, and social concerns</li>\n<li>Leisure and the common good</li>\n<li>Classical philosophical perspectives on the meaning of community</li>\n<li>Educating for social justice and/or citizenship</li>\n<li>Educational rights in reference to immigrants and the homeless</li>\n<li>Educational levels and feeling at home within society</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We welcome submissions from both members and non-members\, but we require that all presenters join the North American Society for Social Philosophy if their papers are accepted and if they present at the conference.</p>\n<p>Submission Deadline:&nbsp\; February 15\, 2019.
