DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for papers: </strong>Faculty and students (graduate and undergraduate) from anywhere in the world are invited to submit abstracts for the 2019 Meeting of the South Carolina Society for Philosophy. Submissions dealing with any topic in philosophy are welcome.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>For all submissions\, abstracts of 400-500 words are required by <u>January 1\, 2019</u>: </strong>Abstracts should be in a format suitable for blind review and include a title and a category (or two) in which the paper might fit at the conference. Please indicate in the body of your email the author&rsquo\;s name\, institutional affiliation\, phone number\, and email address. If you wish your paper to be considered for a prize (see below)\, please also note which award category you belong to. </p>\n<p><strong>Panel proposals on any topic in philosophy are also welcome: </strong>Proposals should include abstracts for each presentation. These should specify: the panel&rsquo\;s topic\; the format of the session (including time required)\; the names and contact information for all panelists\; and titles for papers to be presented in the panel (if any). You do not need to have a complete panel to propose one.</p>\n<p><strong>Women in Philosophy:</strong> March is women's history month\, and women's issues and voices have recently risen to the forefront of American public and intellectual life. Thus\, the Society particularly encourages participants to consider submitting papers and panel proposals for scholarly work on women philosophers (regardless of topic area). There will also be a mentoring lunch held on Saturday\, which is open to all women conference participants - details TBA at the conference.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Three essay prizes will be awarded: </strong>The conference committee will award essay prizes for authors in the following three categories: non-tenured faculty at a South Carolina institution\; graduate student\; and undergraduate student at a South Carolina institution. All authors wishing to be considered for one of these essay prizes must submit both an abstract (as above)\, and their full paper prepared for blind review by <strong><u>February 1\, 2019</u></strong>. <em>Final papers for essay prizes should be no longer than 3000 words.</em></p>\n<p><strong>Submission Instructions: </strong>Email your submission(s) to Nathan Sasser (Greenville Technical College)\, SCSP Vice President and 2019 Conference Program Chair\, at nathan.sasser@gvltec.edu.
