DESCRIPTION:<p>Recent years have witnessed a flourishing of interest in the philosophy of disagreement\, especially within epistemology (see\, e.g.\, Frances and Matheson 2018 for a survey). This workshop will explore a variety of issues about disagreement including the underlying nature of disagreement and its implications for ethics and law. Topics to be addressed will include:</p>\n<p>-Is disagreement among attitudes other than belief possible?</p>\n<p>-How should we characterize the notion of an &lsquo\;epistemic peer&rsquo\;?</p>\n<p>-Is there something distinctive about philosophical disagreement?</p>\n<p>-How can the epistemology of disagreement help us to understand conflicting testimony in legal proceedings?</p>
