The XXIX IVR World Congress will take place in Lucerne\, Switzerland from 7-13 July 2019. The organisation is a joint undertaking between lucernaiuris\, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Legal Studies at the University of Lucerne\, and the Swiss Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy.

\nThe special workshops are a main pillar of the IVR World Congress\, and provide a unique forum for intensive exchange on a particular subject of interest. The workshops are organised by individuals or groups of individuals who are responsible for the overall coordination of the session.
\nThe purpose of the workshop on Individual and group vulnerability (further information here: https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/890d86_d9dc60c2f40540f6bf42ded3cf3c2d98.pdf) is to analyse the meaning and the legal/institutional value of this concept\, also with reference to the condition of ethno-cultural and religious minorities. Possible questions include:
\nA clarification of the concept\, its heuristic capacity and political and practical relevancy.
\nThe interplay between individual and group vulnerability.
\nThe relationship between vulnerability and other dimensions\, such as victimization\, insecurity\, and risk.
\nThe role institutions can play in dealing with individual and group vulnerability\, by providing goods\, economic resources\, and other material assets.
\nThe role of the broader society\, in particular the networks of relationships people live in\, and from which they receive support: families\, associations\, trade unions\, religious groups\, and so on.
