\nThe goal of this session is to discuss some of the benefits and challenges associated with interdisciplinary work in philosophy or by philosophers. We want to hear from graduate students\, recent graduates\, and junior faculty members about their experience with interdisciplinarity\, including (but not limited to) topics such as the following:
\nopportunities for interdisciplinary training\, whether curricular (e.g.\, built into a philosophy PhD program) or extracurricular\;
\nstrategies for interdisciplinary research\, including its execution (e.g.\, collaborating with scholars from other disciplines) and its reception by peers\, administrators\, the general public\, etc\;
\ninterdisciplinary teaching\, and the role that philosophy-specific content or skills can play in interdisciplinary courses\, the role that content or skills from other disciplines can play in philosophy courses\, etc.
\ninterdisciplinary service\, including initiatives within one&rsquo\;s institution or in external organizations.
\nTo apply\, send us a proposal of 100-200 words that describes what you would like to present. This can be a challenge that you overcame and how you overcame it\, a positive feature of your experience that you think others could benefit from hearing about\, or general advice you&rsquo\;d like to share.
\nThe first part of the session will involve the panelists&rsquo\; presentations (around 15-20 minutes each) and general Q&\;A/discussion. The second part of the session will be dedicated to more informal socializing\, with the possibility of interested panelists and attendees going out for dinner.
\nProposals of 100-200 words are due on Sunday\, March 31. Please send your proposal to contact-gsc@apaonline.org with the subject line &ldquo\;Proposal for GSC Panel at APA Pacific.&rdquo\;
\nNote that\, unfortunately\, we cannot offer travel funding at this time. However\, panelists who cannot travel to the conference because of the travel ban or for reasons related to disability can participate remotely\, and are especially encouraged to apply.
\nFeel free to contact us (contact-gsc@apaonline.org) if you have any questions.
