DESCRIPTION:<p>The <strong>MuST (Munich-Sydney-Turin) conference series in philosophy of science</strong> joins forces with the workshop series <strong>&ldquo\;Perspectives on Scientific Error&rdquo\;</strong> to bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers interested in issues of scientific method and statistical inference. The conference topic is</p>\n<p><strong>&ldquo\;Statistical Reasoning and Scientific Error&rdquo\;</strong></p>\n<p>The topics of the conference include\, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>the explanatory and inferential function of statistical models in the sciences</li>\n<li>the foundations of statistical inference</li>\n<li>the relationship between statistical reasoning and scientific error</li>\n<li>the place of statistics in scientific method</li>\n<li>the replicability of research findings</li>\n<li>techniques for detecting and correcting scientific error</li>\n<li>reform proposals for scientific method (e.g.\, Bayesian vs. frequentist statistics\, publication practices\, incentive structures)</li>\n<li>reliable methods of aggregating and interpreting evidence</li>\n<li>values in science\, and their impact on scientific error</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Submission Guidelines</strong></p>\n<p>Please submit an extended abstract (max 1000 words) and a short abstract (max 100 words) suitable for blind review&nbsp\;<strong>until 12 May 2019</strong> <strong>(deadline extended)</strong> via the EasyChair review system (link below).&nbsp\;The following&nbsp\;categories are welcome:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presentations</li>\n<li>Posters</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Participants should indicate in EasyChair whether they want their presentation submission\, if not accepted\, to be considered for the poster session.</p>\n<p><strong><strong>Submission link: </strong>https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pse3</strong></p>\n<p>Notifications of acceptance are expected on <strong>May 20</strong><strong>\, 2019.</strong></p>
