DESCRIPTION:<p>The purpose of the Semantics and Philosophy in Europe (SPE) colloquia is to provide a forum for presenting research in the interface between linguistic semantics and various areas of philosophy (philosophy of language\, philosophy of mind/cognition\, metaphysics etc.). Previous colloquia have taken place in Paris (SPE1\, 2008 and SPE3\, 2010)\, London (SPE2\, 2009)\, Bochum (SPE4\, 2011)\, Turin (SPE5\, 2012)\, St. Petersburg (SPE6\, 2013)\, Berlin (SPE7\, 2014)\, Cambridge (SPE8\, 2015)\, Padua (SPE9\, 2017) and Barcelona (SPE10\, 2018). This year&rsquo\;s Semantics and Philosophy in Europe Colloquium features a general session as well as two special sessions:</p>\n<p>1 - Subjectivity: Theoretical and Experimental Perspectives</p>\n<p>2 - Truthmaker Semantics and Situations</p>\n<p>There will also be two invited lectures on the influence of the Lvov-Warsaw School on contemporary semantics and philosophy of language.</p>\n<p>For the general session\, we invite any contributions on topics at the interface of linguistics an philosophy\, including but not limited to work on truth and meaning\, the architecture of language\, reference\, attitude reports\, the formal ontology of language\, the relation between syntax\, semantics\, and pragmatics\, semantics and the brain\, and semantics of other symbolic systems.</p>\n<p>General Session: Timothy Williamson (University of Oxford)</p>\n<p>Special Session I:&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Emmanuel Chemla (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique)</p>\n<p>Stephanie Solt (Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft Berlin)</p>\n<p>Isidora Stojanovic (Institut Jean Nicod)</p>\n<p>Special Session II:&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Kit Fine (New York University)</p>\n<p>Friederike Moltmann (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique/New York University)</p>\n<p>Gillian Ramchand (University of Troms&oslash\;)</p>\n<p>Lectures "The Lvov-Warsaw School and Contemporary Semantics":</p>\n<p>Paweł Grabarczyk (IT University of Copanhagen/University of Ł&oacute\;dź)</p>\n<p>Friederike Moltmann (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique/New York University)</p>\n<p>Each special session will be preceded by a tutorial given by Natalia Karczewska (University of Warsaw) and Joanna Odrowąż-Sypniewska (University of Warsaw) (Session I) and by Kit Fine and Friederike Moltmann (Session II).
