DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Workshop 'Silencing\, Prejudice and Resistance'</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Date</strong>: 24th&nbsp\;June 2019</p>\n<p><strong>Place</strong>: University of Stirling</p>\n<p><strong>Keynote Speaker</strong>: Prof Mari Mikkola (Oxford)</p>\n<p>Call for Applications</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline for submission</strong>: 30th&nbsp\;April 2019</p>\n<p>The Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) chapter of the joint programme in Philosophy of the University of Stirling and University of St Andrews (SASP) invite applications for engaged participants in the one-day workshop &lsquo\;Silencing\, Prejudice and Resistance&rsquo\;\, featuring philosophical talks related to this theme. This includes but is not limited to work in:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feminist Philosophy</li>\n<li>Feminist and Social Epistemology</li>\n<li>Epistemic Virtues and Vices in Academy</li>\n<li>Gender and Oppression</li>\n<li>Diversifying Philosophy</li>\n<li>Public Philosophy</li>\n<li>Inclusive Pedagogy</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups in philosophy. Each talk will last for approximately 30 minutes\, followed by 20 minutes for discussion.</p>\n<p>At the end of the conference\, all conference attendees are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion on &lsquo\;Activism and Philosophy&rsquo\;. Our aim is to bring together representatives of MAP chapters across UK universities and beyond to share our activist experience\, to forge new ideas and develop collaborative projects in the future to advance the objective of the MAP initiative. We also hope to connect marginalised philosophers across the country\, especially in areas with no active MAP chapters.</p>\n<p><strong>Submission guidelines</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anonymized abstracts of approximately 500 words should be emailed to&nbsp\;mapuk.sasp@gmail.com&nbsp\;by 30th&nbsp\;April.</li>\n<li>Submissions should be accompanied by a separate cover sheet including the author&rsquo\;s name\, affiliation\, and contact information. All submissions will be double-blind refereed. Decisions will be announced by 13th&nbsp\;May.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>*If you are not interested in giving a talk but would like to participate in our roundtable discussion\, please send in a short statement (up to 300 words) of your relevant experience or interest in activism broadly construed.</p>\n<p><strong>Funding Opportunities</strong></p>\n<p>We hope to offer support to partially cover travel expenses for speakers and participants of the roundtable discussion. Priority will be given to students without institutional support from their home universities.
