DESCRIPTION:<p>As\n the result of generous donations from an anonymous donor and our \npublisher (Routledge)\, the International Society for Intellectual\n History is offering\, on an annual basis\, a prize to honour the \ncontribution of the late Charles Schmitt to intellectual history.</p>\n\n<p>The\n prize is &pound\;250\, plus &pound\;50 worth of Routledge books\, and a year&rsquo\;s free \nmembership of the&nbsp\;ISIH with a subscription to the Society&rsquo\;s\n quarterly journal <em>Intellectual History Review</em>. The paper awarded the prize will also be published in the\n<em>Intellectual History Review</em>.</p>\n\n<p>Submissions\n will be accepted in any area of intellectual history\, broadly \nconstrued\, 1500 to the present\, including the historiography\n of intellectual history. Because it is a condition of the award that \nthe paper awarded the prize will be published by\n<em>IHR</em>\, submissions should not have been accepted for publication \nelsewhere\, or exceed 9000 words. Eligibility is restricted to doctoral \nstudents and those who have submitted their PhD within two years of the \nclosing date for the prize. </p>\n\n<p>The paper should be forwarded as an e-mail attachment to <a target="_blank">stephen.gaukroger@arts.usyd.edu.au</a> and to <a target="_blank">s.clucas@bbk.ac.uk</a>.\n The e-mail itself should state that the\n paper is being entered for the prize\, and should confirm eligibility at\n the time of submission\, as well as availability of the paper for \npublication.</p>\n\n<p>The closing date for the prize is 31 December 2011\, and an announcement of the award will be made in early 2011.</p>\n<p><br> </p>
