DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>CUNY Emotion Workshop</strong> <em><br>Call for Abstracts</em> &nbsp\; <br>WORKSHOP DATE: May 3\, 2019\, CUNY Graduate Center <br>ABSTRACT DEADLINE: &nbsp\;April 8\, 2019 &nbsp\; <br><br>What are emotions?&nbsp\; Are they innate or socially constructed?&nbsp\; How do they enter into consciousness? Can they be unconscious? &nbsp\;&nbsp\; What roles do they play in judgment\, decision-making\, and values?&nbsp\; Are they rational?&nbsp\; Or voluntary?&nbsp\; How are they implicated in bias?&nbsp\; Should some emotions be suppressed? &nbsp\;&nbsp\; What is the best analysis of specific emotions\, such as anger\, love\, or awe? &nbsp\;&nbsp\; What is valence? What are feelings? Do feelings differ from emotions?&nbsp\;&nbsp\; What can be said about other affective constructs such as empathy\, desires\, or moods? &nbsp\; &nbsp\; <br><br>This workshop will provide a forum for researchers doing work on emotions and related states. The goal is to share new ideas and lines of inquiry\, to develop new reflections\, and to foster communication between those of us who are investigating emotions in the New York area\, and beyond.&nbsp\; &nbsp\; <br><br>SUBMISSION DETAILS: <br>> Abstracts should not exceed 500 words&nbsp\; <br>> All topics related to emotions and other affective states are welcome <br>> Submissions from faculty\, postdocs\, and graduate students are welcome <br>> Both philosophical and theoretically significant empirical work will be considered <br>> Send abstracts to Sarah Arnaud&nbsp\;(<a target="_blank">sarnaud@gc.cuny.edu</a>) by midnight on April 8&nbsp\; <br>> Send your name\, affiliation and position with your submission &nbsp\; <br><br><em>Please share the CFA with others who might be interested</em></p>
