DESCRIPTION:
This talk will introduce some of the key ideas of the Danish philosopher and K. E. L&oslash\;gstrup (1905-1981). Robert Stern will outline the main themes in L&oslash\;gstrup&rsquo\;s central work&nbsp\;The Ethical Demand&nbsp\;(1956)\, and then explain how he approached L&oslash\;gstrup work in his new book&nbsp\;The Radical Demand in L&oslash\;gstrup&rsquo\;s Ethics&nbsp\;(Oxford University Press\, 2019). A particular focus will be&nbsp\;the way in which L&oslash\;gstrup accounts for our obligations to others\, based on our mutual vulnerability and interdependence.
