DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Conference Theme:</strong></p>\n<p>Women&rsquo\;s Suffrage &ndash\; 100 Years Later</p>\n<p>We welcome papers that engage the theme in any of a wide variety of ways. This theme opens up a number of possible topics\, especially in political philosophy\, feminist philosophy\, and gender studies including\, but not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gender or sexuality issues\, e.g.: persistent problems of gender or sexuality inequality and subordination\, or intersections among gender\, sexuality\, and other identities.</li>\n<li>Voting rights and access\, e.g: current debates about voter registration or about the disenfranchisement of groups such as immigrants and ex-felons</li>\n<li>Democracy in general\, e.g.: democratic vs. other forms of government\; the ethics of representative government\; the duty to be informed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We encourage original philosophical approaches to the theme.</p>\n<p>Submissions from graduate students are welcome. Please send papers of approximately 3000 words prepared for blind review by Monday\, 10/28/2019 to rosental_c@mercer.edu. If you are interested and willing to provide a commentary response to a paper at the conference\, please email your name and general areas of interest.</p>
