DESCRIPTION:<p>Abstract submissions are <strong>now open</strong> for presentations at the 2019 Neuroscience &amp\; Society Meeting.</p>\n<p>Abstracts are invited from a wide range of relevant disciplines\, including those working in the fields of ethics\, law\, science\, social science\, medicine and other clinical professions\, engineering\, philosophy\, and public policy in Australia and internationally. Abstracts of an empirical\, legal\, and philosophical nature are welcomed. Investigators at all career stages are encouraged to submit one or more abstracts.</p>\n<p>Abstracts will be peer reviewed and acceptance will be based on content\, available space\, and overall program balance. A number of selected abstracts will be invited for an oral presentation (approximately 20 minutes plus questions). Other selected abstracts may be invited for a poster presentation or lightning talk.</p>\n<p>Presentations are welcomed on any topic related to neuroethics or neurolaw\, although particular consideration will be given to those addressing the key conference theme of &ldquo\;Neuroscience and Responsibility&rsquo\;. This includes\, but is not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>Criminal responsibility</li>\n<li>Moral responsibility</li>\n<li>Neurointerventions in criminal contexts</li>\n<li>Responsible research and innovation</li>\n<li>Design and the environment</li>\n<li>Individual and collective responsibility</li>\n<li>Risk and responsibility</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Enquiries may be emailed to <a href="mailto:adrian.carter@monash.edu.au">adrian.carter@monash.edu</a> &nbsp\;or <a href="mailto:jamie.walvisch@monash.edu">jamie.walvisch@monash.edu</a>. </p>\n<p><strong>Submitting an Abstract</strong></p>\n<p>Abstracts are due by <strong>24 July 2019</strong> and are to be submitted via email to <a href="mailto:john.gardner@monash.edu">john.gardner@monash.edu</a>. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>All submissions must include:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>A clear and concise abstract of no more than 300 words</li>\n<li>A title (formatted in Title Case\, not UPPERCASE)</li>\n<li>A list of all authors using their preferred abbreviations\, as well as each author&rsquo\;s full name (for example\, &ldquo\;Jonathan Doe and Michelle Bach [J. Doe and M. Bach]&rdquo\;)</li>\n<li>Institutional affiliations for each author</li>\n<li>References (up to five) using the Neuroethics journal format</li>\n<li>Disclosure of any conflicts of interest</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Work presented in abstracts must be in compliance with local policies\, ethical review related to the use of humans and animals in research\, and the disclosure of any conflicts of interest.</p>\n<p>Abstracts will be &nbsp\;reviewed by the conference organising committee and submitters notified of the outcome by <strong>31 August 2019.</strong></p>\n
