Despite these connections and the understanding we have acquired of them over the past four decades of research\, these domains were never studied under a global perspective of theories and practices in context. The colloquium &ldquo\;Petrus Hispanus on&nbsp\;<em>cognitio</em>&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;<em>experientia</em>: Theories and Practices in Context&rdquo\; intends to fill this lacuna and carry out a survey of the complex&nbsp\;<em>corpus</em>&nbsp\;from the viewpoint of&nbsp\;<strong><em>cognitio</em>&nbsp\;</strong>and<strong>&nbsp\;<em>experientia</em></strong>.</p>\n<p>This viewpoint is a central theoretical theme in the epistemological and psychological works\, but connected to a much wider range of problems and practices in several other fields\, such as mysticism\, alchemy\, medicine\, and sermons. Indeed\, Petrus Hispanus was no exception to his medieval contemporaries in following the laws of the soul for establishing his sciences rather than the laws of nature.</p>\n<p>All presentations to be delivered are intended to explore&nbsp\;<strong><em>cognitio</em>&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;<em>experientia</em></strong>&nbsp\;in these different disciplinary domains in order to gain a deeper and precise understanding of the diverse and complex theories and practices related to them. Since little is known to this date about these interrelations\, perspectives and approaches in philosophy\, philology\, and history will be combined. This interdisciplinary approach is intended to place Peter of Spain in his contexts of sources and influences\, and debates with contemporary mid-13th century authors.&nbsp\;By this reason\, comparative approaches are welcomed too.</p>
