DESCRIPTION:<p>We are delighted to invite submissions for the third annual <strong>Philosophy in Progress (PIP) Postgraduate Conference\,</strong> at the University of Nottingham\, 8th &amp\; 9th January 2020.</p>\n<p><strong>Abstract deadline: 23rd September 2019</strong><strong></strong></p>\n<p>Keynotes: Prof. Richard Pettigrew (University of Bristol) &amp\; Prof. Helen Beebee (University of Manchester)</p>\n<p>The central aim of PIP is to provide a forum for the next generation of philosophers to present and discuss the advances they are making in contemporary philosophy right now &ndash\; that is\, to show philosophy in progress. We welcome abstracts from current postgraduate students that make an original contribution to philosophical topics and debates broadly in the analytic tradition. Appropriate topics include\, but are not limited to:</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Metaphysics</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Social &amp\; Political Philosophy</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Epistemology</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Philosophy of Mind</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Philosophy of Language</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Meta/Normative/Applied Ethics</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Philosophy of Religion</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Aesthetics</p>\n<p>-&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; History of Philosophy</p>\n<p>We<strong> </strong>invite<strong> abstracts </strong>from<strong> </strong>postgraduates\,<strong> </strong>of no more than <strong>500 words </strong>(excluding reference list)\, suitable for a 30 minute presentation\, on a topic appropriate to a generalist philosophical audience. Papers will be selected by double-blind review. All sessions will include prepared comments from a philosopher at the University of Nottingham or the University of Birmingham. As such\, accepted speakers will need to send a full version of their paper\, of no more than 4000 words\, by 1st December 2019\, so that it can be passed on to a commentator.</p>\n<p>We particularly welcome submissions from members of underrepresented groups in philosophy&ndash\; feel free to indicate in your email if you are a member of such a group.. We aim to give decisions by the 14th October.
