Dear Colleagues\,
\n\nI earlier sent out a call for papers for the 2020 West Coast Plato Workshop\, which the steering committee had decided to focus on the Lysis. It now seems\, however\, that not many of our colleagues are working on this dialogue. So I have decided to extend the deadline for submissions to November 15 (see below for specific instructions). I have also decided to expand the topic of the conference.
\n\nThe new topic for the 2020 West Coast Plato Workshop is: Desire\, Love\, and Friendship in Plato's Dialogues.
\n\nAny paper within this general area or on any dialogue(s) in which these interests appear will be gladly considered.
\n\nThe workshop will take place May 22-24\, 2020\, at Lewis &\; Clark College in Portland\, Oregon.
Submissions should consist in two separate pages: (i) the title of the paper\, name(s)\, academic rank(s)\, affiliation(s)\, and email contact(s) of author(s)\; (ii) title and no more than 500-word abstract prepared for blind review. Submissions should be double-spaced and 12-pitch\, in MSWord\, PDF\, or RTF formats only.
Refereeing for submissions will be blind and will be done by past and present hosts of the WCPW. Final selection will attempt to achieve a good balance of participants (senior and junior faculty as well as graduate students).
We are also soliciting volunteers for those willing to serve as commentators and session chairs.
\n\nNEW DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: NOVEMBER 15\, 2019
Please send paper proposals and/or volunteer as a commentator or chair to: \;ndsmith@lclark.edu.
\n\nAll best\,
Nick Smith
