The Georgetown Institute for the Study of Markets and Ethics (GISME) is accepting proposals for a junior faculty manuscript workshop\, to be hosted at Georgetown some time in Spring 2020.

During the one-day workshop\, two external critics/commenters (to be determined in consultation with the successful applicant) will each offer comments on parts of the book manuscript. All participants will read the entire manuscript in advance. The goal is help a junior faculty member polish a book manuscript for the purposes of publication.

The timeline is as follows: GISME will accept applications until Sep 30. Members of GISME (Jason Brennan\, John Hasnas\, Peter Jaworski\, William English\, Michael Douma\, and Sahar Ahktar) will then select a proposal for the workshop. The winning candidate will then identify possible outside commenters. Working with the candidate\, we will solicit commenters and find a mutually agreeable time to hold the workshop. The winning candidate will need to send a complete draft of a book manuscript to all participants 6 weeks before the conference date\, which likely means no later than mid-February. GISME will pay all travel costs and offer critics an honorarium.

To submit a proposal\, please use subject line GISME 2020 Manuscript Application\, and send 1) a full CV\, and 2) a 2-3 page abstract of the manuscript. (If you already have a book proposal which you've sent to a publisher\, you may send that instead\, regardless of length.) Submissions can be made directly to Jason Brennan at jason.brennan@georgetown.edu.

Applicants can be any junior faculty member with a PhD in hand\, including tenure- and non-tenure-track assistant professors\, post-doctoral fellows\, research assistant professors\, and visiting assistant professors. The PhD can be in philosophy\, political science\, business ethics\, or cognate fields.

GISME is dedicated to studying issues in the nature of markets and ethics. We will entertain proposals in any area of value theory or the philosophy of social science\, but all things equal\, slight preference will be given to proposals in the areas of business ethics\, political philosophy\, PPE\, or otherwise more closely related to the topics GISME's faculty studies.
