DESCRIPTION:<p>ON BEHALF OF THE THOUGHT TRUST</p>\n<p>The Thought Trust intends to award in 2020-21 Conference Grants of up to &pound\;5\,000 and invites applications accordingly. The headline conditions are as follows:</p>\n<p>that the Conference should take place in the UK</p>\n<p>that the Conference theme and content should be recognised by the Thought Trustees as Philosophy that is practised in the analytic tradition (broadly construed)</p>\n<p>that the primary applicant should be a researcher at Postdoctoral or more advanced level who has an affiliation to an appropriate UK institution</p>\n<p>that the Conference Grant will be awarded on a <em>Matching Funding </em>basis with the applicant proving a provisional commitment from another source to supply an amount not less than the Conference Grant applied for.</p>\n<p>Applications should have three parts:</p>\n<p>(Part A) A clear indication of the theme of the Conference along with an intellectual justification for its taking place\, an indication of potential participants\, a statement of those who will be eligible to attend and of provisions made for free or subsidised attendance.</p>\n<p>(Part B) A logistical case indicating the time and place at which the Conference will take place along with a financial projection (in significant detail) of how money will be spent in total (Thought Conference Grant plus matching funding).</p>\n<p>(Part C) A letter of commitment from an appropriate body indicating that matching funding will be forthcoming in the event that a Thought Conference Grant is secured.</p>\n<p>In deciding the award of Conference Grants\, the Thought Trustees will give significant weight to provision that is made for the inclusion of Early Career Researchers.</p>\n<p>Initial expressions of interest and queries should be sent to</p>\n<p>Professor John Divers (University of Leeds) <a href="mailto:j.divers@leeds.ac.uk">j.divers@leeds.ac.uk</a></p>\n<p>The closing date for receipt of applications is November 1st 2019.</p>\n<p>The relevant Conference is to take place between April 1st 2020 and September 30th 2021.</p>\n<p>STATEMENT ON FAIR COMPETITION</p>\n<p>There is no prohibition against applications from otherwise eligible institutions or research units to which either the Thought Trustees or Editors of <em>Thought: a Journal of Philosophy </em>are affiliated. In the event that any such applications are received the Trustees will put in place procedures for review of appropriately anonymised applications by a panel of philosophers who have no such affiliations nor affiliations to the institution of any applicant.</p>
