DESCRIPTION:<p>Virtue signalling has come in for a lot of stick recently. It allegedly subverts the primary&nbsp\;function of moral discourse &nbsp\;and has bad effects on how we form moral judgments. I argue that virtue signalling just is a primary function of morality and plays a virtuous role in helping us to come to justified moral beliefs.</p>\n<p>Neil Levy is Professor of Philosophy at Macquarie University and a Senior Researcher at the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics\, University of Oxford.&nbsp\;He is President of the Australasian Association of Philosophy.&nbsp\;</p>
