\nThe Center for the Study of Religion and the City and the Committee for Philosophy\, Religion\, and Public Life at Morgan State University are now accepting proposals for public dialogue that bring together scholars\, activists\, artists\, policy makers\, and other community partners to discuss\, on the fifth anniversary of the death of Freddie Gray and the Baltimore Uprisings\, what happened\, is happening\, and where can we go from here?
\nWe are especially interested in\, but not limited to\, engagements with:
\nPolicing and mass incarceration
\nPolitical and economic justice
\nAccess to education and health resources (public school funding\, water justice\, health care\, etc.)
\nArtistic responses to the death of Freddie Gray and the Baltimore Uprising
\nConsent decrees\, reparations\, and reconciliation \;
\nThe relation between global uprisings since 2015
\nImmigration\, surveillance\, and detention centers
\nIn addition to papers and panels in which scholars present relevant research and/or respond to the work of a community partner\, we are interested in proposals for creative formats\, including: \;
\nFacilitated dialogues/small group discussions
\nVisual and performance art (e.g. exhibition\, posters\, poetry\, etc.)
\nMultimedia presentations
\nWorkshop (e.g. for activists on using social media\; pooling resources &\; lessons\; etc.)
\nTours
\nAny other creative format
\nThe CSRC will help promote broad participation in the conference through travel support for graduate students and junior faculty to attend the annual CSRC conference. Up to ten travel grants of $500-750 each will be awarded by the CSRC&rsquo\;s travel grant jury.
