DESCRIPTION:
Diversity has become a divisive issue in today's society. In this debate philosophers at the front line will be picking at its complexities and difficulties. What are the different forms of diversity? Why do they matter? Should we be promoting or managing diversity? Should we even be reducing it in the name of greater cohesion? And why are we riding it so hard to have these debates\, with opposing sides refusing to engage with each other?&nbsp\;
\n
For this year&rsquo\;s Royal institute of Philosophy debate we have abandoned the antagonistic for/against format and have invited our speakers to model a more collaborative discussion in which increased mutual understanding matters more than winning. In our increasingly polarised society\, we need to bring people together more than ever. Confirmed speakers are Prof Tommy Curry\, Prof Kathleen Stock\, and Baroness Onora O'Neill\, with the BBC's Ritula Shah in the chair.
\n
As this event is free\, not everyone who asks for tickets comes to our events. To make sure we have a full house we allocate more tickets than there are seats. Admission is on a first come\, first served basis\, so please arrive in good time for the start of the event.
