DESCRIPTION:<p>9th Annual University of Calgary Philosophy Graduate Conference</p>\n<p>Call for Papers</p>\n<p><strong>Trusting relationships between science and the public: </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Locating problems and generating solutions</strong></p>\n<p>Dates of Conference: April 30 &ndash\; May 1\, 2020</p>\n<p><strong>Keynote: Naomi Scheman (Minnesota)</strong></p>\n<p>The central question of this conference will be &ldquo\;How can we constructively criticize science from a variety of perspectives\, without further damaging public trust in science?&rdquo\;</p>\n<p>Paper topics may include but are not limited to:</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; general philosophy of science</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; trust and criticism of science</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; feminist philosophy of science</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; indigenous criticisms of science</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; intersectional criticisms of science</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; social epistemology</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; environmental ethics</p>\n<p>Submissions of papers of up to 3000 words (not including abstract or bibliography\, but including footnotes/endnotes)\, prepared for blind review and suitable for a 20-minute presentation should be submitted to:</p>\n<p><strong><a href="https://easychair.org/cfp/ucpgsa9">https://easychair.org/cfp/ucpgsa9</a></strong></p>\n<p>Organizers especially encourage submissions from members of marginalized groups.</p>\n<p>Deadline for Submission: January 30\, 2020&nbsp\;<strong>DEADLINE EXTENDED TO END OF DAY\, FEB 9!</strong></p>\n<p><strong>All speakers are invited to a conference dinner and any other social activities planned by conference organizers. </strong><strong></strong></p>
