DESCRIPTION:<p>The focus of this year&rsquo\;s conference &ldquo\;Philosophy: The New Generation&rdquo\; is to doubt common knowledge and prevailing opinions in order to analyze and (re)discover what often remains obliterated\, neglected or repressed.<br><br>We encourage you to join the discussion of these topics and suggest the following lines of elaborating them:<br><br>1) The Figure of Philosopher within the Mainstream/Margins Opposition:<br><br>- What determines the place of any particular philosopher or any philosophical text within the mainstream/margins opposition? <br>- What causes the shifts in this positioning and what hidden structures are in action behind the curtains of the mainstream/margins dynamics?<br><br>2) The Social and Political Role of Intellectuals:<br><br>- Philosophical criticism: the voice of the marginalized or the instrument of the mainstream?<br>- The public and the private: philosophical inquiry in the light of individual freedom\, duty\, and responsibility.<br>- What is the conscious self-positioning of a philosopher as a public figure or a &ldquo\;philosopher from the underground&rdquo\; aimed at? <br><br>3) Group Identities:<br><br>- Celebrating diversity: the notion of diversity and its mainstream and/or marginal status in contemporary philosophy.<br>- Postcolonial and feminist studies: revising the canon.<br><br>4) Philosophy and Institutions:<br><br>- Institutional and extra-institutional aspects of philosophical inquiry: what are the problems of professional acknowledgment and legitimation?.<br>- Is it possible to define the universal limits of philosophical inquiry beyond this division? <br><br>To apply\, please fill out the online form (goo.gl/9edWpP) and send your abstract to phil.new.gen@gmail.com<br><br>Application deadline: February 15\, 2020 <br><br>Formal requirements for abstracts:<br>- Text: max 4500 characters with spaces\;<br>- Font: Times New Roman\, size 12\; 1\,5 space\;<br>- Specify your name and surname\, institution\, faculty\, specialization\, and title (center alignment) at the top of the document with an abstract\;<br>- The title of the document must include the author&rsquo\;s surname\;<br>- In-text citations and bibliography must be formatted according to the APA style.<br><br>Working languages: Ukrainian\, English\, Russian.<br><br>The organizing committee has a right to reject materials that do not meet the formal or content requirements or violate the rules of academic integrity.<br><br>Abstracts will be published. <br><br>Transportation and accommodation costs are not covered.<br><br>Our contacts:<br>phil.new.gen@gmail.com <br>facebook.com/philosophynewgeneration<br>philosophynewgeneration.wordpress.com</p>
