DESCRIPTION:<p>BERGEN WORKSHOP ON LOGICAL EVIDENCE</p>\n<p>University of Bergen\, 26th-27th May 2020</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline: 22nd March 2020</strong></p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Confirmed speakers:</strong></p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Gila Sher (University of California\, San Diego)</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Michael Devitt (The Graduate Center\, CUNY)</p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Call for papers:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong>We invite submissions for 45-minute presentations\, with additional time for discussion\, on the broad topic of logical evidence\, addressing questions including\, but not limited to:</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Can logical claims be justified?</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; If so\, what distinct types of evidence can be relied upon?</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Are our logical beliefs default reasonable?</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; What role do intuitions and logical paradoxes play in dictating our choice of logic?</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Can it be rational to rely upon empirical evidence to justify logical theories?</p>\n<p>Submissions should take the form of anonymised 1\,000-1\,500 word abstracts\, and be sent to <a href="mailto:benjamin.martin@uib.no">benjamin.martin@uib.no</a> by the 22nd March. Contact details\, including paper title\, affiliation and email address\, should be submitted as a separate PDF.
