DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for Papers</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Concerned Philosophers for Peace</strong></p>\n<p><strong>VIRTUAL CONFERENCE<br>January 29-30\, 2021<br><br></strong><strong>On Zoom via:</strong></p>\n<p><apurple\;" href="http://peacephilosophy.org/">http://peacephilosophy.org/</a></p>\n<p><strong><br></strong><strong><u>Co-Sponsors<br><br></u></strong><strong></strong></p>\n<p><strong>California State University\, Fresno</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Pellissippi State Community College</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Texas State University</strong></p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>[This is CPP&rsquo\;s 2020 annual conference\, <strong>rescheduled from October 2020</strong> because of Covid-19]</p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Theme: Peace and Hope in Dark Times</strong></p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Submit abstracts of 500 words for papers related to this theme</strong><br>or to the overall mission of Concerned Philosophers for Peace.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>What are the challenges for peace?&nbsp\; What can we hope for?</p>\n\n<p><u>Topics might include\, but are not limited to:</u></p>\n\n\n<p><br></p>\n\n<p>Political challenges for peace: authoritarianism\, lawlessness\, broken democracies\, etc.</p>\n\n<p>Environmental challenges: climate change\, environmental justice\, etc.</p>\n\n<p>Social challenges: homelessness\, poverty\, domestic violence\, insecurity<br><br></p>\n<p>Personal challenges: hopelessness\, resignation\, bystander effect\, etc.<br><br></p>\n<p>Exemplars of nonviolence</p>\n\n<p>Exemplars of moral courage</p>\n\n<p>Successful nonviolent movements</p>\n\n<p>The role of hope in the philosophy of peace</p>\n\n<p>The need for solidarity\, love\, and other virtues</p>\n\n<p><br></p>\n\n<p>We welcome submissions from undergraduates\, graduate students\, and professional philosophers\, as well as from a range of fields including philosophy\, law\, public policy\, business\, history\, religious studies\, political science\, social science\, or related fields. Submissions from teachers\, researchers\, or practitioners are also welcome\, particularly insofar as those presentations could complement the theme of the conference.
