This continues a successful series of meetings focusing on the role of modeling\, simulation\, and computational approaches in the natural and social sciences\, in medicine and engineering. Of interest are not only the development and use of models and simulations in research and technology but also the roles they play in other societal domains (e.g.&nbsp\; politics\, health\, administration\, finance and business). The MS Conferences aim at lively discussions among participants representing different disciplinary\, theoretical and empirical approaches. This includes philosophers\, historians\, and social scientists (respectively HPS and STS scholars) with an interest in models and simulations as well as practicing scholars who model or simulate in their own research.\nEarlier meetings have taken place in Paris (2006)\, Tilburg (2007)\, Charlottesville\, VA (2009)\, Toronto (2010)\, Helsinki (2012)\, Notre Dame\, IN (2014)\, Barcelona (2016)\, and Columbia\, SC (2018).\n\nWe invite single papers and symposium proposals (3-4 participants) on any aspect of modeling\, simulation\, and computational approaches.\n\nPossible topics include:\n- The performative power and politics of modeling and simulation\n-&nbsp\;The role of models and simulations for explanation and understanding\n-&nbsp\;Scientific representations and scientific fictions\n-&nbsp\;Model-based reasoning\n-&nbsp\;Prediction\, evidence and confirmation\n- Experimental and heuristic use of models\n- Models as boundary objects\n- Transepistemic practices of modeling and simulation\n- Models as socio-political representations\n- Model documentation\, data curation\, transparency&nbsp\;&ndash\; and associated practices\n- Open-source vs. closed-source modeling\n\nAbstract submission\n\nSingle paper abstracts and symposia proposals are to be submitted through EasyChair:&nbsp\;<a rel="noopenerdata-auth="NotApplicable">https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ms9\n\nFor&nbsp\;single papers\, please submit a short abstract of 100 words and an extended abstract of 500 words (upload in PDF format).
