DESCRIPTION:<p>Sometimes we think something without really getting it\, really understanding it\, or really&nbsp\;<em>grasping</em>&nbsp\;it. For example\, you might know that the sun is 1.3 million times larger in volume than the earth without really grasping this fact. In this talk\, I try to shed light on what it takes to grasp something. I explore two broad views on grasping: the phenomenal view and the cognitive view. I suggest that the phenomenal view offers the most plausible account of grasping. In the process\, I explore the role of consciousness in reasoning.</p>\n\n&nbsp\;
