DESCRIPTION:<p>Philosophy can aid contemporary societies with a variety of complex issues such as struggle and liberation by using reason and critical thinking. We call for abstracts on the concepts\, praxis\, social mobilization\, science\, and moral philosophy of struggle and liberation for our contemporary moment. Works pertaining to tenacity\, honor or dignity\, oppression\, insurrectionist ethics\, universal human liberation\, and values or goals for future people are sought after. Works referencing\, analyzing\, or critiquing the philosophical oeuvres of Dr. Leonard Harris (Purdue University) or Dr. Enrique Dussel (Universidad Aut&oacute\;noma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa) are especially welcome.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;<strong>Keynote addresses:</strong></p>\n<p>&bull\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Dr. Leonard Harris (Purdue University)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&bull\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Dr. Enrique Dussel (UAM-I/UNAM)</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;<strong>Location:</strong> There will be both physical and online presentations. The online location is to be determined\, but Zoom is the likely candidate. The physical location of this event is the University Library\, Blumberg Auditorium\, at The University of Texas at El Paso. We will abide by any social distancing measures and face covering mandates that are required by the university and state.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;<strong>Abstracts:</strong> 500 to 750 words\, excluding citations and title. One acceptance per presenter. Co-authored writings welcomed. Email us if you are from elsewhere for a reduced fee.</p>\n<p><strong>Publications:</strong></p>\n<p>The organizing committee for <em>Struggle and Liberation Today</em> seeks to disseminate the results of the discussions on at least two avenues. The first is an academic journal with John Wiley &amp\; Sons that will oversee the conference program for select articles to invite to publication. The organizing committee will also seek to publish an edited book with a prestigious press.
