DESCRIPTION:<p>The Centre for Logic and Philosophy of Science (CLPS) of Ghent University was founded in 1993. On occasion of its 20th&nbsp\;anniversary the Centre organises an international&nbsp\;<em>Conference on Logic and Philosophy of Science</em>&nbsp\;(CLPS13) on the themes that are central to its research:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Logical analysis of scientific reasoning processes</li>\n<li>Methodological and epistemological analysis of scientific reasoning processes</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Keynote talks will be given by Diderik Batens (the founder of the Centre)\, three logicians (Natacha Alechina\, Graham Priest\, and Stephen Read)\, and three philosophers of science (Hanne Andersen\, Hasok Chang and Jim Woodward).</p>\n<p>On top of the keynote talks and the regular sessions with contributed papers\, we will also schedule eleven special symposia with a limited number of papers:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Logic and action (#1)</li>\n<li>Mathematics and computation: Historical and epistemological issues (#2)</li>\n<li>Causality in/and medicine (#3)</li>\n<li>Proofs\, programmes\, procedures: formal and epistemic issues (#4)</li>\n<li>Analogy and metaphor in creative problem solving (#5)</li>\n<li>Rational disagreement in science&nbsp\;(#6)</li>\n<li>Nominalism and its foes: formal methods&nbsp\;(#7)</li>\n<li>Non-standard models of belief change&nbsp\;(#8)</li>\n<li>Moral responsibility of scientists<em>&nbsp\;</em>(#9)</li>\n<li>Functional analysis and explanation (#10)</li>\n<li>Solving/handling/avoiding paradoxes by means of non-classical logics&nbsp\;(#11)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Each symposium is organised by one or two post-doctoral researchers of the CLPS.
