DESCRIPTION:
We're discussing Iris Murdoch&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;Under the Net. As both a philosopher and a novelist\, Murdoch wanted to exploit the advantages &lsquo\;of having a mind on the borders of philosophy\, literature\, and politics&rsquo\;. True to that end\, her first novel\,&nbsp\;Under the Net\, is a comic meditation on everything from the nature of truth to living a moral life.
\n
At the Philosophers&rsquo\; Book Club\, we select a work of fiction for philosophical dissection. Although you are encouraged to read the book in advance\, it is by no means necessary.
\n
Speakers
\n
\n
Hannah Marije Altorf\, Reader in Philosophy\, St. Mary&rsquo\;s University
\n
Lucy Bolton\, Reader in Film Studies\, QMUL
\n
Mara-Daria Cojocaru\,Lecturer in Practical Philosophy\, Munich School of Philosophy
\n
\n
Chair
\n
\n
Shahidha Bari\, Fellow\, Forum for Philosophy &amp\; Professor\, University of the Arts London
\n
\n
.
