LOCATION:3 Charles Street\, Dugald Stewart Building\, Edinburgh\, United Kingdom\, EH8 8AQ
DESCRIPTION:
*Submission dealine extended by 1 week to the 8th of March*
\n
Submission deadline: 8th of March 2021
\n
Notification date: 1st April 2021
\n
The University of Edinburgh will be hosting the&nbsp\;10th edition of the annual Edinburgh Graduate Epistemology Conference on Monday&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;14th and Tuesday&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;15th of&nbsp\;June 2021.&nbsp\;The conference&nbsp\;will provide&nbsp\;a&nbsp\;collaborative environment for graduate students with wide-ranging interests in epistemology&nbsp\;to&nbsp\;share their work&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;receive constructive feedback.&nbsp\;This year\, we are delighted to host&nbsp\;Michael Hannon&nbsp\;(University of Nottingham) and&nbsp\;Steph&nbsp\;Rennick&nbsp\;(University of Glasgow) as the keynote speakers.&nbsp\;
\n
The two-day conference will consist of eight graduate student talks and two keynote speaker talks. Graduate speakers have 30 minutes to present their paper. Every graduate speaker will be appointed a respondent from Edinburgh or a neighbouring university. This response plus Q&amp\;A will be a further 30 minutes.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n
We are planning to hold the conference as a hybrid in-person and video conference. This means speakers will have the chance to travel to Edinburgh and present\, or instead present online from home. All talks will be streamed online\, which means that non-speaking attendees will be able to tune in and participate in the Q&amp\;A segments. However\, if restrictions mean the in-person component is not possible\, then we will move entirely to a video conferencing platform.
\n
We welcome submissions from all areas within epistemology&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;we especially encourage submissions from&nbsp\;members of&nbsp\;underrepresented groups. We invite essays with a maximum length of 4000 words (excl. bibliographical references)\, accompanied by a&nbsp\;300-word abstract. All papers must be anonymised for blind review and submitted through&nbsp\;Easychair\, for which you can find the link here:&nbsp\;https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=egec2021&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n
We&nbsp\;will&nbsp\;cover the cost of accommodation&nbsp\;for speakers&nbsp\;as well as lunches and a conference dinner on the first night.&nbsp\;We&nbsp\;also&nbsp\;expect to be able to cover&nbsp\;the cost of childcare for&nbsp\;speakers.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;
\n
If you have any questions\, please send an email to&nbsp\;edinburghgradepistconf@gmail.com&nbsp\;
\n
The conference is generously funded by the Scots Philosophical Association and the University of Edinburgh.
