DESCRIPTION:
Prometheus&nbsp\;is an undergraduate philosophy club and journal published by students at Johns Hopkins University.
\n
The purpose of the journal is to promote the philosophic discourse of the highest standard by offering students an opportunity to engage in open discussion\, participate in the production and publication of an academic journal\, and establish a community of aspiring philosophers.
\n
Prometheus&nbsp\;holds various undergraduate events\, including a discussion forum that meets every other Tuesday in the fall to discuss philosophical issues that are not addressed in the classroom.&nbsp\; In the spring\, we host a seminar series in which we invite graduate students to deliver talks and lead discussions. Every April Prometheus hosts the Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Philosophy Conference\, where undergraduates present their own work.
\n
Prometheus&nbsp\;also publishes an online undergraduate philosophy journal every year.&nbsp\; Each issue contains a selection of essays on various philosophic topics submitted by undergraduates from around the world.&nbsp\; We accept submissions every winter and publish the journal in the summer.
\n
This conference is going to be held online.
\n
The schedule for this year's conference is as follows:
\n\n
April 10th&nbsp\;Saturday&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n\n
9:50AM - 10AM Conference Introduction&nbsp\;
\n\n
10AM &ndash\; 10:50AM Presentation&nbsp\;by Campbell Rider
\n
&ldquo\;Dualism and Organic Form&rdquo\;&nbsp\;
\n\n
11AM &ndash\; 12PM Keynote Presentation
\n
&ldquo\;Recognition after Fichte&rdquo\;&nbsp\;by Johns Hopkins Professor of Philosophy Michelle Kosch
\n\n
12PM &ndash\; 1PM Lunch Break&nbsp\;
\n\n
1PM&nbsp\;&ndash\; 1:50PM&nbsp\;Presentation by Ibrahim Dagher
\n
&ldquo\;Expanding William Hasker&rsquo\;s Transcendental refutation of Determinism&rdquo\;&nbsp\;
\n\n
2PM &ndash\; 2:50PM&nbsp\;Presentation by Lawrence Cao
\n
&ldquo\;A Defense of Second Analogy&rdquo\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n\n
April 11th&nbsp\;Sunday&nbsp\;
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
10AM-10:50AM Presentation by Mackenzi Barrett&nbsp\;
\n
&ldquo\;On Self-Determination and Coercion: A State&rsquo\;s Right to Control its Border&rdquo\;
\n\n
11AM-11:50AM&nbsp\;Presentation by Nathan Jacob
\n
&ldquo\;Phenomenology of Consciousness: Understanding its Functional Role&rdquo\;
\n\n
12PM-12:50PM Presentation by&nbsp\;Musa Saleem&nbsp\;
\n
&ldquo\;A Distinctive Type of Anthropocentrism in the Philosophy of Personhood&rdquo\;
\n\n
12:50PM-1PM Conference Wrap-Up&nbsp\;
\n
Contact us at&nbsp\;prometheusjhu@gmail.com for the Zoom link to the conference.
\n\n
