DESCRIPTION:
To quote the revered philosophical sage Mr Spock\, &lsquo\;Logic is the beginning of wisdom\, not the end of it&rsquo\;. Logic is one of the cornerstone disciplines of philosophy and describes the laws of rational thought. It encompasses everything from &lsquo\;critical thinking&rsquo\; and fallacies to highly technical formal proofs. It is also an increasingly referenced subject in the so-called culture wars.&nbsp\;Sara L Uckelman\, Justin Vlasits\, and Audrey Yap&nbsp\;discuss logic and its colourful history\, stretching from Aristotle\, through medieval thought\, and right up to its role in contemporary political discourse.
\n
Speakers
\n
\n
Sara L Uckelman\,&nbsp\;Assistant Professor of Philosophy\, Durham University
\n
Justin Vlasits\,&nbsp\;Assistant Professor of Philosophy\, T&uuml\;bingen University
\n
Audrey Yap\,&nbsp\;Associate Professor of Philosophy\, University of Victoria
\n
\n
Chair
\n
\n
Clare Moriarty\, Fellow\, Forum for Philosophy &amp\; IRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow\, Trinity College Dublin
\n
\n
.
\n
More information:
