Sati\, or mindfulness\, was a practice taught by the Buddha as part of the noble eightfold path\, that was firmly grounded in ethical reflection and morality. The modern\, secular mindfulness movement\, however\, has for the most part ignored the social and political dimensions of mindfulness\, turning it into a wholly individualistic and instrumental practice without any grounding in ethical reflection. What happens when we remove mindfulness out of its ethical framework? How do we put the two back together again? What is the role of mindfulness in ethics\, politics and social change? These are some of the questions that will be discussed in this webinar\, with a team of academic and non-academic buddhists engaged on this topic (in Portuguese and English).
