SUMMARY:Central and Eastern European Conference on Phenomenology
UID:20260711T181451Z-iCalPlugin-Grails@philevents-web-bd7db559-gt5qm
TZID:Europe/London
LOCATION:Embankment 5\, Saint Petersburg \, Russia
DESCRIPTION:
The phenomenological movement recognized from the outset its debt to \nAristotle&rsquo\;s philosophy. As it is too well-known\, this affinity has been \nemphasized and deepened by Martin Heidegger and by the contemporary \nphenomenological research in the wake of Hannah Arendt\, Hans-Georg \nGadamer\, Paul Ricoeur etc. Alexei Chernyakov has been an eminent Russian\n representative of that tradition.

Nevertheless\, phenomenological interpretations of Aristotle&rsquo\;s philosophy\n seem\, nowadays\, to be marginal\, in part because of their reluctance to \nestablish a bridge with contemporary Aristotelian scholarship and with \nalternative approaches to Aristotle. The conference aims at putting an \nend to this introverted attitude. It welcomes therefore contributions which\, though of phenomenological \ninspiration\, provide text-centered readings of Aristotle&rsquo\;s philosophy in\n dialogue with current debates within Aristotelian studies. Bringing to \nlight eventual affinities or disparities with analytic-oriented readings\n of Aristotle is also a desideratum. There is no restriction as to the \nspecific subject matter of the contributions. Phenomenological studies \non Aristotle&rsquo\;s ethics\, politics\, rhetoric\, metaphysics\, physics\, \npoetics\, time\, action\, etc. are equally welcome.&nbsp\;
\n\n
Organizers: The \nOrganization of Phenomenological Organizations (OPO)St. Petersburg \nSchool of Religion and Philosophy\, RussiaDepartment of Philosophy\, \nUniversity of Patras\, Greece&nbsp\;
\n\n
Scientific committee: Pavlos Kontos \n(Patras)\, Marc Michalski (Athens)\, Viktor Molchanov (Moscow)\,Nelly \nMotroshilova (Moscow)\, Natalia Pecherskaya (Saint-Petersburg)\,Panagiotis\n Thanassas (Thessaloniki)\, Panos Theodorou (Crete)&nbsp\;
\n\n
Place and Time: The \nConference will take place in St. Petersburg\, June 2-3\, \n2012 (Universitetskaya embankment 5\, Saint-Petersburg\, 199034\, \nRussia).
\n\n
Papers
\n
\n
Speakers will be given 30 minutes to present their \npapers\, followed by 20 minutes of discussion.
\n
Papers from outside \nRussia/CIS should be sent by e-mail attachment to \npkontos@upatras.gr.
