Dear colleagues\,
following the tradition of our International Network\, we are presenting this Seventh Edition of the International Workshop on Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Information in 2021\, to be carried out by the Graduate Program in Philosophy (PPGFIL) of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) via Google Meet\, during April 15-16 and 22-23.
The selected theme for this edition is: &ldquo\;Quantum Ontology and Metaphysics&rdquo\;. We would like to address specifically the issue of whether\, and in which measure\, do ontology and metaphysics contribute to the intelligibility of quantum mechanics. Feynman famously said that &ldquo\;nobody understands quantum mechanics&rdquo\;. But what does it mean to &ldquo\;understand quantum mechanics&rdquo\;? Could\, perhaps\, interpretations adding further ontological and metaphysical layers contribute to address such an issue?
Certainly\, there is much to say about it\, and we hope to meet you all!
