However\, given the challenging situation of the pandemic\, we feel that it is more necessary than ever to heed the Pope&rsquo\;s call for a universal solidarity.
\n
Therefore\, in honor of the fifth anniversary of the promulgation of Laudato Si'\, IFES proposes a profound reexamination of the Christian doctrine of the Gift-character of being and creation. The Gift-character of being invites us to recover and deepen our study of the unity of the sciences\, philosophy and the arts within the fundamental dimension of the human person as created for the Gift (to be received and given). The hope of this International Symposium and Summer School is to provide a privileged forum to deepen the theological nexus of this unity and its implications to be illuminated by the light of the gift of Christ.
\n
This event is organized by the Edith Stein Institute of Philosophy and the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow\, with collaborating institutions.
\n

\n
Event Speakers
\n

\n
John Milbank\, University of Nottingham Centre of Theology and Philosophy
\n
"Theology\, Ecology and the Question of Nature"
\n
Ildefonso Fern&aacute\;ndez-F&iacute\;gares Vicioso\, Lumen Gentium Institute of Theology
\n
"Land as Gift: Rethinking Economics According to Wendell Berry"
\n
Pablo Mart&iacute\;nez de Anguita d'Huart\, Rey Juan Carlos University
\n
"The Ecology of Human Reproduction and Marriage"
\n
Jeffrey Dirk Wilson\, Catholic University of America
\n
"Re-Homing the Human&rdquo\;
\n
Władysław Zuziak\, Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow
\n
"God's Gift of Nature and Human Responsibility"
\n
Michael Dominic Taylor\, Laudato Si' Institute
\n
"Metaphysics of Gift and the Quest for the Meaning of Creation"
\n
Norman Klassen\, University of Waterloo
\n
"Rhetorical Style as Real Substance: Interpreting the Work of Creation"
\n
Alejandro Serani Merlo\, San Sebasti&aacute\;n University
\n
"The Gift of Distinguishing What Is Real from What Is Not"
\n
Rocco Buttiglione\, Edith Stein Institute of Philosophy
\n
"The Return of the Angels: The Ecological Turn as Conversion to the Theology of Creation and to Natural Law"
\n
Salvador Antu&ntilde\;ano Alea\, Francisco de Vitoria University
\n
"Ordinatissima Pulchritudo Huius Mundi: St. Augustine&rsquo\;s Image of Creation"
\n
Rodrigo Guerra L&oacute\;pez\, Center for Advanced Social Research (CISAV)
\n
"Understanding Laudato Si'"
\n
William Cavanaugh\, DePaul University
\n
"The Love of Creation between Sacrament and Idolatry"
\n

\n
Organizing Institutions
\n
The Edith Stein Institute of Philosophy (Granada\, Spain)
\n
The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow (Poland)
\n
With the Collaboration of:
\n
The Laudato Si' Institute (Granada\, Spain)
\n
Saint Joseph's College of Maine (Standish\, ME\, USA)
\n
https://internationalsymposium.rsvpify.com/
