SUMMARY:Causation and Agency in our Indeterministic World
UID:20260408T122444Z-iCalPlugin-Grails@philevents-web-f5d4878dd-r5qzs

LOCATION:Utrecht\, Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:
How can anything at all happen in an indeterministic world? And how can that&nbsp\;which happens\, be something specific? In an indeterministic world (like&nbsp\;ours\, arguably)\, it is not determined what will happen - but how can that&nbsp\;which happens\, become determinate then? Can we learn about this problem by&nbsp\;considering agency\, or can we sharpen our understanding of agency by&nbsp\;considering this problem? Is it fruitful to approach the problem from the&nbsp\;point of view of things actualizing their potentialities (their dispositions&nbsp\;and powers)\, or should we use some framework of indeterminstic event&nbsp\;causation\, or some other framework?

Attendance is free\, but space is limited. Therefore registration is&nbsp\;required. If you are interested in attending\, please send an email to&nbsp\;indeterminism@phil.uu.nl.

For more information\, abstracts and the program\, please see our website:
http://indeterminism.phil.uu.nl/events/causation-and-agency-in-our-indeterministic-world/

This event is organized in the context of Thomas M&uuml\;ller's ERC starting grant&nbsp\;"Indeterminism Ltd. An intervention on the free will debate".
