DESCRIPTION:
The September meeting of NESAP will take place on Thursday\, September 23 at 4:30 EDT and will be a discussion of Sara Brill's&nbsp\;"Aristotle on the Practice of Life"

Here is Sara's description of her paper:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;

Aristotle invokes the distinction between action and production at an early juncture in the&nbsp\;Politics&nbsp\;in order to argue that living one&rsquo\;s life does not produce anything outside of itself\; it is an action that has its end in itself and not in something else. His subsequent development of the practical character of human life\, however\, cannot be severed from a very particular dynamic of power that does not sit easily with the contemporary reception of ancient Greek&nbsp\;bioi\; I explore this dynamic with a focus on the connection it provides between Aristotle&rsquo\;s political and zoological thought.&nbsp\;

At the meeting\, Sara&nbsp\;will give a short introduction to her paper and then we will turn to discussion.

The discussion will presuppose that participants have read the&nbsp\;paper in advance of the session. The paper and Zoom link will be distributed to participants via email in a couple weeks prior to the event.&nbsp\; To allow yourself time to complete the readings\, please register at least 48 hours prior to the event.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;

You can register for this and other events on our website at&nbsp\;https://www.newenglandsymposiumonancientphilosophy.com/.
