As we enter the global era\, exchanges between the East and the West are becoming more and more important also in the field of aesthetics. Historically\, European and Asian aesthetics have represented alternative paradigms\, characterised by different backgrounds and methodologies. &lsquo\;Chinoiserie&rsquo\; in the 18th century and &lsquo\;Japonism&rsquo\; in the 19th century were highly influential trends in European cultural history and facilitated the relatively early introduction of Chinese and Japanese Aesthetics into Europe. Korean aesthetics\, however\, has received so far only little attention. \;
\nKorea has developed a beautiful art culture and formed its own aesthetics\, with a rich historical tradition and a unique language in East Asia. Along with Chinese and Japanese culture\, Korean philosophy is also based on ideas such as Confucianism\, Buddhism\, and Taoism and shows its own characteristic achievements as well as a great diversity of approaches in the fields of the arts and aesthetics. In the last few years\, following the 20th Congress of the International Association for Aesthetics (IAA)\, held in Seoul (Korea) in 2016\, scholars have started to become increasingly interested in Korean aesthetics. In addition\, performances by young Korean artists\, including the BTS music band\, have lately gained popularity all over the world. \;
\nTo stimulate interaction among Western and Eastern aestheticians and promote further transcultural discussion\, ESPES - The Slovak Journal of Aesthetics intends to dedicate a special Thematic Symposium to the topic of Korean Aesthetics\, guest edited by Joosik Min (Yeungnam University\, Korea).
\nWe encourage short papers of circa 3500 words (excluding bibliography) investigating the historical sources and contemporary developments of aesthetics in Korea. Various aspects of Korean aesthetics can be addressed\, including: \;

\n&bull\; Aesthetic Analysis of Korean Arts
\n&bull\; Comparative Research for Korean Aesthetics
\n&bull\; Methodology for the Study of Korean Aesthetics
\nPapers should conform to the usual ESPES stylistic requirements for Short Essays and Discussion Pieces and be submitted for consideration by January 31\, 2022. Submissions that do not comply with these instructions will be returned to the author. All submissions will undergo a double-blind review process.
