DESCRIPTION:<p>This one-day\, in-person workshop on October 26th 2021 at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) will address a range of ethical questions to do with the nature of family ties and reproductive technologies. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The event is organized jointly with Centre for Medical Science and Technology Studies (MeST)\, the "Future of Family Relationships&rdquo\; Velux-funded project\, and in association with the KU master&rsquo\;s course on reproductive tech and family ties. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Although this workshop is primarily philosophical\, scholars from across disciplines are very much encouraged and welcome to attend. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p><u>Speakers</u></p>\n<p><strong>Teresa Baron (IRLaB Prague)</strong> - TBD</p>\n<p><strong>Rikke Bentzon (University of Copenhagen)</strong> - &ldquo\;Why families shouldn&rsquo\;t be defined by biology"</p>\n<p><strong>Giulia Cavaliere (KCL)</strong> - &ldquo\;Involuntary childlessness\, suffering and equality of resources: An argument for expanding state-funded treatment provision&rdquo\;</p>\n<p><strong>Heidi Mertes (Ghent University)</strong> - &ldquo\;Why we need new outcome measures in infertility treatment"</p>\n<p><strong>Anna Smajdor (University of Oslo)</strong> - &ldquo\;What is reproduction\, and (how) do reproductive technologies facilitate it?" &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Abstracts/schedule for talks may be found on the workshop webpage:&nbsp\;https://futurabioethics.wordpress.com/reproductive-technologies-and-family-ties-workshop/&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><u>Registration</u> We are not planning to hold this event in a hybrid/online format at this time. There are a limited number of spaces for in-person attendance. &nbsp\; &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Please e-mail ji.young.lee@sund.ku.dk to register\, only if you intend to attend in person\, no later than October 8th\, 2021. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>In keeping with venue restrictions/catering considerations\, please also let us know if you wish to attend all day or just one/some of the talks.</p>
