DESCRIPTION:<p>In reaction to Logical Positivism and emerging Naturalism\, both of whom treated natural science as a model for philosophical clarification\, the 1950s and 1960s saw an opposing trend\, mainly inspired by the later Wittgenstein\, that distinguished understanding of meaning from scientific explanation and claimed that philosophy was mainly concerned with comprehending meaningful expressions. Since Wittgensteinian approaches have recently again become more prominent in Action Theory\, another look at the old distinction between explanation and understanding may prove to be fruitful as well.</p>\n<p>TO ATTEND\, REGISTER FOR FREE:&nbsp\;https://dgphil2020.fau.de/en/access-to-events/</p>
